If you are in a car crash with an uninsured motorist, you are protected if you purchase the additional coverage, which is not required under Michigan's no-fault system. If your in an accident with a person who is at fault and is underinsured, you would collect the difference from your underinsured policy. Your uninsured policy will also pay for any damages, up to the limits of your coverage.
